About

Jay completed his first triathlon in 1992 at Eppie’s Great Race featuring a run, bike and kayak. It was shortly after, when he crossed the finish line at his next race, that Jay realized he had a passion for the sport, and wanted to learn as much as he could about the science of training.

Jay continues to study the multisport science and is an USAT Level II certified coach and bike fitter with certifications from all the leading bike fitting schools – Retül, F.I.S.T., Serotta International Cycling Institute and Bikefit.com. He is currently a head coach for the NYC Team In Training Triathlon program where he coaches hundreds of athletes each year. He regularly provides clinics on bike fitting, training, nutrition, gear and how to buy a bike on a budget; and has been published by Women’s Health magazine.

Jay bases his coaching philosophy on the importance of heart rate and always remembering to have fun. He is an eight-time ironman finisher, along with numerous short course distance races and marathons. His favorite race is the now defunct Liberty to Liberty Triathlon. He lives in New York City with his wife, Kristine, and two genius cats, Flan & Julia.
